While the crises in our nation demand immediate response, reactive decisions will lead to quick fixes providing temporary reliefs that only expend resources, without solving the real problem. Quick fixes demand frequent interventions due to repeated patterns, leading to increased resource depletion in the long run.
We need a more balanced approach that looks at the present, through lens of the future. Focusing solely on present needs will limit our ability to identify and anticipate future trends and the opportunities they present.
Joseph's strategic foresight allowed him to develop a strategic plan that not only helped build resilience to an upcoming famine, but also positioned ancient Egypt as a dominant force in the global arena.
Our nation needs futurists like Joseph, who posses a pioneering spirit.
Pioneers project themselves into the future to see what will be needed and set out to build it today, thereby setting the trajectory of a nation They are not driven by a desire for recognition or fame, understanding that their contribution will become apparent when what they started is built upon by others over time.
They initiate a pattern for others to build upon to achieve something more substantial. As a result of this, the significance of their work only becomes clear in hindsight.
Think about Thomas Edison, one of the greatest pioneers of all time. His inventions in regard to power production were so forward thinking that they laid the foundation for the modern technologies.
As people who care about the needs of our communities, let's work to build something worthwhile. An impersonal one-size fits all institution may not emphasize with devastated communities and identify with their needs.
